Investing.com – Canada stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Health Care, Information Technology and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite rose 0.18%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Valeant Pharmaceuticals Inc (TO:VRX), which rose 15.05% or 32.72 points to trade at 250.13 at the close. Meanwhile, CGI Group Inc (TO:GIBa) added 6.16% or 3.22 points to end at 55.46 and Primero Mining Corp (TO:P) was up 3.75% or 0.150 points to 4.150 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Lightstream Resources Ltd (TO:LTS), which fell 10.29% or 0.14 points to trade at 1.22 at the close. Penn West Petroleum Ltd. (TO:PWT) declined 6.41% or 0.18 points to end at 2.63 and Enerplus Corporation (TO:ERF) was down 6.21% or 0.84 points to 12.69.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 850 to 597 and 170 ended unchanged.

The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of options, was down 6.73% to 15.65 a new 1-month low.
Gold for April delivery was down 0.30% or 3.60 to $1201.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in April fell 2.81% or 1.43 to hit $49.38 a barrel, while the April Brent Oil contract fell 2.03% or 1.23 to trade at $58.99 a barrel.
CAD/USD was down 0.35% to 0.7950, while CAD/EUR rose 0.06% to 0.7015.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.30% at 94.68.
