Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Public Utilities and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.13%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Oi SA (SA:OIBR4), which rose 6.19% or 0.38 points to trade at 6.52 at the close. Meanwhile, Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) added 3.14% or 0.360 points to end at 11.810 and Localiza Rent a Car SA (SA:RENT3) was up 2.78% or 1.04 points to 38.39 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were PDG Realty SA (SA:PDGR3), which fell 15.94% or 0.110 points to trade at 0.580 at the close. Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) declined 4.17% or 0.20 points to end at 4.60 and Cia Energetica de Minas Gerais (SA:CMIG4) was down 2.94% or 0.41 points to 13.54.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 138 to 135 and 6 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 3.43% to 34.37 a new 1-month low.
Gold for June delivery was down 0.64% or 7.80 to $1202.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 5.70% or 3.08 to hit $50.91 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract fell 4.38% or 6.22 to trade at $135.75 .
USD/BRL was down 2.53% to 3.0505, while EUR/BRL fell 2.80% to 3.2909.
The US Dollar Index was unchanged 0.00% at 98.25.
