Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Electric Power, Public Utilities and Consumption sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 1.99% to hit a new 52-week low.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3), which rose 6.16% or 0.38 points to trade at 6.55 at the close. Meanwhile, Cosan SA Industria e Comercio (SA:CSAN3) added 1.28% or 0.23 points to end at 18.21 and Cia Hering (SA:HGTX3) was up 1.18% or 0.16 points to 13.76 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Oi SA (SA:OIBR4), which fell 7.98% or 0.26 points to trade at 3.00 at the close. Cia Energetica de Sao Paulo (SA:CESP6) declined 6.84% or 1.23 points to end at 16.76 and ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3) was down 6.25% or 0.51 points to 7.65.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 224 to 95 and 8 ended unchanged.
Shares in Cia Energetica de Sao Paulo (SA:CESP6) fell to 52-week lows; losing 6.84% or 1.23 to 16.76. Shares in ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3) fell to 3-years lows; down 6.25% or 0.51 to 7.65.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 20.31% to 48.76 a new 6-months high.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.50% or 5.80 to $1159.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.48% or 1.02 to hit $40.30 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 5.07% or 6.72 to trade at $125.97 .
USD/BRL was up 1.08% to 3.4977, while EUR/BRL rose 2.22% to 3.9755.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.85% at 94.95.
