Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financials, Public Utilities and Consumption sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 1.94%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4), which rose 1.38% or 0.07 points to trade at 5.13 at the close. Meanwhile, Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3) added 1.30% or 0.20 points to end at 15.55 and Gerdau SA Pref (SA:GGBR4) was up 1.09% or 0.12 points to 11.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were CPFL Energia SA (SA:CPFE3), which fell 6.89% or 1.87 points to trade at 25.28 at the close. Banco do Brasil SA (SA:BBAS3) declined 4.53% or 1.48 points to end at 31.16 and Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) was down 3.99% or 0.37 points to 8.90.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 276 to 109 and 28 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.20% to 33.65.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.89% or 11.51 to $1283.39 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.00% or 0.58 to hit $57.41 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract rose 2.04% or 2.65 to trade at $132.32 .
USD/BRL was up 1.03% to 3.2458, while EUR/BRL rose 1.18% to 3.8490.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 93.16.
