Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Real Estate, Public Utilities and Electric Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 1.73% to hit a new 6-months low.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Embraer SA (BVMF:EMBR3), which rose 4.04% or 1.49 points to trade at 38.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Sao Martinho SA (BVMF:SMTO3) added 2.76% or 0.76 points to end at 28.25 and Marfrig Alimentos SA (BVMF:MRFG3) was up 1.09% or 0.12 points to 11.12 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Lwsa SA (BVMF:LWSA3), which fell 8.46% or 0.39 points to trade at 4.22 at the close. Magazine Luiza SA (BVMF:MGLU3) declined 7.56% or 0.96 points to end at 11.74 and MRV Engenharia e Participacoes SA (BVMF:MRVE3) was down 6.02% or 0.44 points to 6.87.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the B3 Stock Exchange by 547 to 391 and 49 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 2.14% to 27.00.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 3.44% or 82.30 to $2,308.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.36% or 0.27 to hit $75.28 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 3.96% or 9.27 to trade at $224.93 .
USD/BRL was up 1.34% to 5.33, while EUR/BRL rose 0.59% to 5.75.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.80% at 104.89.
