Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Financials, Consumption and Public Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 1.70%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3), which rose 4.41% or 0.90 points to trade at 21.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) added 1.84% or 1.02 points to end at 56.43 and Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) was up 0.85% or 0.10 points to 11.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Viavarejo Unt (SA:VVAR11), which fell 4.16% or 1.16 points to trade at 26.72 at the close. EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3) declined 4.13% or 0.48 points to end at 11.15 and WEG SA (SA:WEGE3) was down 3.19% or 0.75 points to 22.75.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 281 to 142 and 32 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 9.30% to 31.03.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.95% or 12.80 to $1335.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.71% or 0.47 to hit $65.33 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 0.74% or 0.90 to trade at $120.38 .
USD/BRL was up 1.64% to 3.2187, while EUR/BRL rose 1.24% to 4.0112.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.55% at 88.97.
