Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Consumption, Public Utilities and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 1.22% to hit a new 6-months low.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5), which rose 21.40% or 8.80 points to trade at 49.92 at the close. Meanwhile, WEG SA (SA:WEGE3) added 3.48% or 0.53 points to end at 15.78 and Engie Brasil Energia SA (SA:EGIE3) was up 1.97% or 0.66 points to 34.21 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3), which fell 8.39% or 1.19 points to trade at 13.00 at the close. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6) declined 8.20% or 1.34 points to end at 15.01 and Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) was down 6.52% or 0.52 points to 7.45.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 296 to 120 and 38 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 5.65% to 33.90.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.96% or 25.60 to $1282.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 3.53% or 2.36 to hit $64.53 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 0.28% or 0.32 to trade at $115.35 .
USD/BRL was down 2.06% to 3.7282, while EUR/BRL fell 1.67% to 4.3290.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.15% at 94.79.
