Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Public Utilities, Basic Materials and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.84%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were CPFL Energia SA (SA:CPFE3), which rose 4.71% or 0.90 points to trade at 20.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Fleury SA (SA:FLRY3) added 3.26% or 0.89 points to end at 28.15 and Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) was up 1.93% or 0.35 points to 18.45 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6), which fell 4.12% or 0.84 points to trade at 19.56 at the close. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3) declined 4.02% or 0.71 points to end at 16.94 and EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3) was down 3.95% or 0.50 points to 12.15.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 241 to 159 and 46 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 4.35% to 31.16.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.39% or 5.10 to $1318.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.71% or 0.45 to hit $63.41 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 0.80% or 1.00 to trade at $124.08 .
USD/BRL was down 0.61% to 3.2287, while EUR/BRL fell 0.44% to 3.8605.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.18% at 92.06.
