Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Real Estate, Electric Power and Public Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.73%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3), which rose 4.40% or 1.96 points to trade at 46.53 at the close. Meanwhile, Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) added 4.35% or 0.39 points to end at 9.35 and Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5) was up 3.11% or 1.38 points to 45.78 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6), which fell 3.71% or 0.93 points to trade at 24.15 at the close. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3) declined 3.07% or 0.66 points to end at 20.81 and Gerdau SA Pref (SA:GGBR4) was down 2.89% or 0.32 points to 10.76.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 219 to 160 and 30 ended unchanged.
Shares in Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) rose to 52-week highs; up 4.40% or 1.96 to 46.53. Shares in Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5) rose to all time highs; gaining 3.11% or 1.38 to 45.78.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 4.37% to 30.34.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.37% or 4.75 to $1277.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.93% or 1.49 to hit $49.30 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 1.88% or 2.39 to trade at $129.77 .
USD/BRL was up 0.18% to 3.1596, while EUR/BRL rose 0.38% to 3.7093.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.15% at 93.63.
