Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Public Utilities, Consumption and Electric Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.73%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB3), which rose 3.98% or 1.77 points to trade at 46.19 at the close. Meanwhile, Cyrela Brazil Realty SA (SA:CYRE3) added 3.48% or 0.43 points to end at 12.80 and Ultrapar Participacoes SA (SA:UGPA3) was up 2.75% or 1.46 points to 54.58 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Cia de Saneamento Basico do Estado (SA:SBSP3), which fell 4.46% or 1.23 points to trade at 26.37 at the close. Viavarejo Unt (SA:VVAR11) declined 4.10% or 1.05 points to end at 24.57 and Raia Drogasil SA (SA:RADL3) was down 3.94% or 2.73 points to 66.52.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 275 to 179 and 31 ended unchanged.
Shares in Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB3) rose to all time highs; gaining 3.98% or 1.77 to 46.19.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.54% to 32.32.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.19% or 2.40 to $1291.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.15% or 0.11 to hit $71.38 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 0.13% or 0.15 to trade at $118.12 .
USD/BRL was up 1.01% to 3.7348, while EUR/BRL rose 0.79% to 4.3938.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.21% at 93.59.
