Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Public Utilities, Electric Power and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.70%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3), which rose 3.55% or 1.38 points to trade at 40.28 at the close. Meanwhile, Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3) added 2.44% or 0.44 points to end at 18.45 and RUMO Logistica Operadora Multimodal SA (SA:RAIL3) was up 2.11% or 0.24 points to 11.59 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Smiles ON (SA:SMLE3), which fell 4.72% or 3.76 points to trade at 75.90 at the close. Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) declined 4.67% or 0.39 points to end at 7.97 and Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6) was down 4.52% or 1.09 points to 23.05.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 244 to 159 and 38 ended unchanged.
Shares in RUMO Logistica Operadora Multimodal SA (SA:RAIL3) rose to 52-week highs; up 2.11% or 0.24 to 11.59.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 5.27% to 32.75 a new 3-months high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.19% or 15.49 to $1286.21 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.29% or 0.15 to hit $52.03 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 2.23% or 2.95 to trade at $129.32 .
USD/BRL was up 0.84% to 3.1927, while EUR/BRL rose 0.49% to 3.7516.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.45% at 93.23.
