Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Real Estate, Public Utilities and Consumption sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.43%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5), which rose 4.13% or 0.46 points to trade at 11.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Banco do Brasil SA (SA:BBAS3) added 2.21% or 0.94 points to end at 43.49 and Localiza Rent a Car SA (SA:RENT3) was up 1.61% or 0.42 points to 26.45 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Gerdau SA Pref (SA:GGBR4), which fell 4.39% or 0.75 points to trade at 16.32 at the close. Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3) declined 4.31% or 0.27 points to end at 5.99 and Lojas Americanas SA (SA:LAME4) was down 3.60% or 0.63 points to 16.86.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 265 to 151 and 34 ended unchanged.
Shares in Banco do Brasil SA (SA:BBAS3) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.21% or 0.94 to 43.49. Shares in Localiza Rent a Car SA (SA:RENT3) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 1.61% or 0.42 to 26.45.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 5.03% to 30.24.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 1.17% or 15.50 to $1335.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.48% or 0.30 to hit $62.27 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract fell 0.15% or 0.18 to trade at $120.97 .
USD/BRL was down 1.03% to 3.2094, while EUR/BRL fell 0.47% to 3.9815.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.44% at 89.56.
