Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Electric Power, Public Utilities and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.33%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were WEG SA (BVMF:WEGE3), which rose 1.59% or 0.65 points to trade at 41.52 at the close. Meanwhile, JBS SA (BVMF:JBSS3) added 1.58% or 0.49 points to end at 31.49 and Arezzo Industria e Comercio SA (BVMF:ARZZ3) was up 1.25% or 0.63 points to 50.83 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Grupo Vamos SA (BVMF:VAMO3), which fell 3.32% or 0.26 points to trade at 7.57 at the close. Lwsa SA (BVMF:LWSA3) declined 3.16% or 0.13 points to end at 3.98 and Companhia Brasileira De Distribuica (BVMF:PCAR3) was down 3.06% or 0.09 points to 2.85.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the B3 Stock Exchange by 506 to 419 and 55 ended unchanged.
Shares in WEG SA (BVMF:WEGE3) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 1.59% or 0.65 to 41.52. Shares in JBS SA (BVMF:JBSS3) rose to 52-week highs; up 1.58% or 0.49 to 31.49. Shares in Lwsa SA (BVMF:LWSA3) fell to 3-years lows; falling 3.16% or 0.13 to 3.98.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 3.38% to 25.98.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.60% or 14.15 to $2,330.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.00% or 0.82 to hit $80.81 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 2.68% or 6.32 to trade at $229.93 .
USD/BRL was up 1.10% to 5.45, while EUR/BRL rose 1.00% to 5.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 105.30.
