Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Public Utilities, Consumption and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.27%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Gerdau SA (SA:GGBR4), which rose 4.23% or 0.42 points to trade at 10.34 at the close. Meanwhile, Telefonica Brasil SA (SA:VIVT4) added 2.39% or 1.13 points to end at 48.50 and Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR3) was up 1.81% or 0.27 points to 15.18 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Lojas Americanas SA (SA:LAME4), which fell 4.29% or 0.84 points to trade at 18.75 at the close. Engie Brasil Energia SA (SA:EGIE3) declined 3.94% or 1.65 points to end at 40.20 and Cia Energetica de Sao Paulo (SA:CESP6) was down 3.52% or 0.47 points to 12.90.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 150 to 148 and 17 ended unchanged.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 2.35% to 32.40.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.64% or 8.65 to $1357.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 3.21% or 1.50 to hit $48.29 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract rose 2.59% or 3.50 to trade at $138.60 .
USD/BRL was up 1.08% to 3.2404, while EUR/BRL rose 1.73% to 3.6831.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.62% at 94.10.
