Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Public Utilities, Electric Power and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.27%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3), which rose 6.00% or 0.45 points to trade at 7.95 at the close. Meanwhile, Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) added 4.11% or 0.27 points to end at 6.84 and Gerdau SA Pref (SA:GGBR4) was up 3.98% or 0.58 points to 15.16 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3), which fell 14.29% or 3.85 points to trade at 23.10 at the close. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3) declined 8.60% or 1.36 points to end at 14.45 and Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6) was down 6.15% or 1.10 points to 16.80.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 211 to 183 and 24 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.09% to 34.78.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.36% or 4.50 to $1258.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.50% or 1.11 to hit $73.03 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 2.75% or 3.08 to trade at $108.97 .
USD/BRL was up 0.40% to 3.9295, while EUR/BRL rose 0.70% to 4.5938.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 94.15.
