Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financials, Electric Power and Public Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.20%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were BRF SA (SA:BRFS3), which rose 4.23% or 1.02 points to trade at 25.16 at the close. Meanwhile, Tim Participacoes SA (SA:TIMP3) added 3.27% or 0.46 points to end at 14.52 and Raia Drogasil SA (SA:RADL3) was up 3.23% or 2.49 points to 79.68 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Smiles Fidelidade SA (SA:SMLS3), which fell 9.88% or 7.90 points to trade at 72.10 at the close. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6) declined 4.51% or 1.28 points to end at 27.09 and Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3) was down 3.56% or 1.16 points to 31.42.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 207 to 169 and 39 ended unchanged.
Shares in Tim Participacoes SA (SA:TIMP3) rose to all time highs; gaining 3.27% or 0.46 to 14.52.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 2.88% to 31.11.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.67% or 8.90 to $1326.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 2.01% or 1.26 to hit $61.34 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract fell 0.21% or 0.25 to trade at $120.72 .
USD/BRL was up 1.07% to 3.2454, while EUR/BRL rose 1.11% to 4.0282.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 89.55.
