Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Consumption, Public Utilities and Electric Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.13%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3), which rose 4.52% or 2.33 points to trade at 53.92 at the close. Meanwhile, Banco Santander Brasil SA Unit (SA:SANB11) added 3.95% or 1.18 points to end at 31.05 and Natura Cosmeticos SA (SA:NATU3) was up 3.35% or 1.01 points to 31.13 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Lojas Americanas SA (SA:LAME4), which fell 3.23% or 0.62 points to trade at 18.60 at the close. BRF SA (SA:BRFS3) declined 3.13% or 1.46 points to end at 45.20 and TAESA UNT N2 (SA:TAEE11) was down 2.54% or 0.57 points to 21.90.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 247 to 156 and 37 ended unchanged.
Shares in Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 4.52% or 2.33 to 53.92.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 2.68% to 28.00.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.54% or 7.03 to $1297.57 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.89% or 0.46 to hit $51.91 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 1.98% or 2.50 to trade at $124.03 .
USD/BRL was up 0.01% to 3.1713, while EUR/BRL rose 0.01% to 3.7412.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 93.14.
