Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Electric Power, Public Utilities and Consumption sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.13% to hit a new 6-months low.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Cvc Brasil ON (BVMF:CVCB3), which rose 8.70% or 0.12 points to trade at 1.50 at the close. Meanwhile, IRB Brasil Resseguros SA (BVMF:IRBR3) added 4.88% or 2.07 points to end at 44.52 and Braskem SA (BVMF:BRKM5) was up 3.37% or 0.39 points to 11.97 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Eneva SA (BVMF:ENEV3), which fell 9.31% or 0.98 points to trade at 9.55 at the close. Minerva SA/Brazil (BVMF:BEEF3) declined 5.70% or 0.29 points to end at 4.80 and Companhia Siderurgica Nacional (BVMF:CSNA3) was down 4.97% or 0.44 points to 8.42.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the B3 Stock Exchange by 579 to 395 and 45 ended unchanged.
Shares in Eneva SA (BVMF:ENEV3) fell to 3-years lows; losing 9.31% or 0.98 to 9.55. Shares in Minerva SA/Brazil (BVMF:BEEF3) fell to 5-year lows; falling 5.70% or 0.29 to 4.80. Shares in Companhia Siderurgica Nacional (BVMF:CSNA3) fell to 3-years lows; down 4.97% or 0.44 to 8.42.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.72% to 31.84.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.16% or 30.61 to $2,671.61 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.98% or 1.42 to hit $73.14 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract rose 1.58% or 5.05 to trade at $324.80 .
USD/BRL was down 1.13% to 6.15, while EUR/BRL fell 2.14% to 6.31.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.73% at 109.09.
