Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Public Utilities, Financials and Electric Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.08%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3), which rose 2.71% or 0.28 points to trade at 10.62 at the close. Meanwhile, JBS SA (SA:JBSS3) added 2.48% or 0.22 points to end at 9.10 and Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3) was up 1.84% or 0.13 points to 7.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3), which fell 2.23% or 0.40 points to trade at 17.50 at the close. Equatorial Energia SA (SA:EQTL3) declined 2.09% or 1.31 points to end at 61.35 and CEMIG - Companhia Energetica Minas Gerais Pref (SA:CMIG4) was down 1.98% or 0.17 points to 8.42.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 233 to 169 and 41 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 2.31% to 25.66.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.39% or 17.98 to $1315.88 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.40% or 1.15 to hit $46.72 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 0.11% or 0.15 to trade at $131.47 .
USD/BRL was up 0.14% to 3.1644, while EUR/BRL rose 0.58% to 3.7903.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.31% at 92.18.
