Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Public Utilities, Real Estate and Electric Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.04%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were BRF SA (BVMF:BRFS3), which rose 5.58% or 1.47 points to trade at 27.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Lwsa SA (BVMF:LWSA3) added 4.58% or 0.16 points to end at 3.65 and RUMO Logistica Operadora Multimodal SA (BVMF:RAIL3) was up 2.77% or 0.52 points to 19.28 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Azzas 2154 SA (BVMF:AZZA3), which fell 4.49% or 1.65 points to trade at 35.09 at the close. MRV Engenharia e Participacoes SA (BVMF:MRVE3) declined 4.19% or 0.22 points to end at 5.03 and Hapvida Participacoes e Investimentos (BVMF:HAPV3) was down 3.32% or 0.09 points to 2.62.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the B3 Stock Exchange by 617 to 353 and 49 ended unchanged.
Shares in BRF SA (BVMF:BRFS3) rose to 3-years highs; up 5.58% or 1.47 to 27.80. Shares in Azzas 2154 SA (BVMF:AZZA3) fell to 3-years lows; falling 4.49% or 1.65 to 35.09. Shares in MRV Engenharia e Participacoes SA (BVMF:MRVE3) fell to 5-year lows; down 4.19% or 0.22 to 5.03. Shares in Hapvida Participacoes e Investimentos (BVMF:HAPV3) fell to 52-week lows; losing 3.32% or 0.09 to 2.62.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.37% to 32.15.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.22% or 5.90 to $2,673.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.80% or 1.26 to hit $68.68 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract rose 2.08% or 6.15 to trade at $301.65 .
USD/BRL was unchanged 0.04% to 6.04, while EUR/BRL unchanged 0.08% to 6.35.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 106.34.
