Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Financials, Real Estate and Public Utilities sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 2.18%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6), which rose 6.68% or 1.14 points to trade at 18.21 at the close. Meanwhile, Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3) added 6.55% or 0.96 points to end at 15.61 and Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) was up 5.06% or 0.40 points to 8.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB3), which fell 3.26% or 1.66 points to trade at 49.23 at the close. Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3) declined 1.75% or 0.11 points to end at 6.19 and Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) was down 1.26% or 1.01 points to 79.33.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 320 to 162 and 28 ended unchanged.
Shares in Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) rose to 3-years highs; rising 5.06% or 0.40 to 8.30.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 3.17% to 44.98 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.31% or 3.80 to $1217.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.32% or 0.22 to hit $68.94 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 0.71% or 0.74 to trade at $105.62 .
USD/BRL was down 0.64% to 4.0787, while EUR/BRL fell 0.17% to 4.7634.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.44% at 94.66.
