Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Public Utilities, Electric Power and Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 1.33% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Cosan SA Industria e Comercio (SA:CSAN3), which rose 11.45% or 3.74 points to trade at 36.39 at the close. Meanwhile, Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) added 6.60% or 0.76 points to end at 12.28 and Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA Pref (SA:GOLL4) was up 5.97% or 1.15 points to 20.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ultrapar Participacoes SA (SA:UGPA3), which fell 2.92% or 1.29 points to trade at 42.96 at the close. Lojas Americanas SA (SA:LAME4) declined 2.17% or 0.40 points to end at 18.00 and Smiles Fidelidade SA (SA:SMLS3) was down 1.88% or 0.71 points to 36.99.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 316 to 159 and 23 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.82% to 40.38.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.19% or 2.40 to $1233.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.62% or 0.39 to hit $62.75 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 2.58% or 3.10 to trade at $116.95 .
USD/BRL was up 0.80% to 3.7260, while EUR/BRL rose 0.97% to 4.2509.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.22% at 96.13.
