Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financials, Public Utilities and Electric Power sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 1.25%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were CEMIG - Companhia Energetica Minas Gerais Pref (SA:CMIG4), which rose 7.12% or 0.75 points to trade at 11.29 at the close. Meanwhile, Cvc Brasil ON (SA:CVCB3) added 5.55% or 2.93 points to end at 55.74 and Ultrapar Participacoes SA (SA:UGPA3) was up 5.44% or 2.13 points to 41.31 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ambev SA (SA:ABEV3), which fell 5.60% or 0.89 points to trade at 15.00 at the close. Cosan SA Industria e Comercio (SA:CSAN3) declined 2.57% or 0.87 points to end at 32.99 and Cielo SA (SA:CIEL3) was down 2.44% or 0.30 points to 12.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 270 to 136 and 37 ended unchanged.
Shares in CEMIG - Companhia Energetica Minas Gerais Pref (SA:CMIG4) rose to 3-years highs; rising 7.12% or 0.75 to 11.29. Shares in Ambev SA (SA:ABEV3) fell to 3-years lows; down 5.60% or 0.89 to 15.00. Shares in Cielo SA (SA:CIEL3) fell to 5-year lows; down 2.44% or 0.30 to 12.00.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 3.79% to 44.65.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.50% or 6.20 to $1234.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.22% or 0.15 to hit $66.97 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 0.79% or 0.95 to trade at $121.20 .
USD/BRL was down 0.73% to 3.7056, while EUR/BRL fell 0.88% to 4.2133.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.22% at 96.39.
