Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Public Utilities, Real Estate and Electric Power sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 0.91%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Petroleo Brasileiro SA PN (SA:PETR4), which rose 14.13% or 2.39 points to trade at 19.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR3) added 12.38% or 2.45 points to end at 22.24 and Ultrapar Participacoes SA (SA:UGPA3) was up 6.04% or 2.85 points to 50.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB3), which fell 3.96% or 1.78 points to trade at 43.22 at the close. BB Seguridade Participacoes SA (SA:BBSE3) declined 3.05% or 0.82 points to end at 26.04 and JBS SA (SA:JBSS3) was down 3.38% or 0.32 points to 9.14.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 274 to 195 and 26 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 8.58% to 33.66 a new 1-month high.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.34% or 4.40 to $1299.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.53% or 1.04 to hit $66.84 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 0.38% or 0.46 to trade at $120.12 .
USD/BRL was down 0.24% to 3.7318, while EUR/BRL fell 0.84% to 4.3057.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.47% at 94.80.
