Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Financials, Public Utilities and Basic Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 0.54% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were BRF SA (SA:BRFS3), which rose 4.92% or 1.84 points to trade at 39.24 at the close. Meanwhile, Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5) added 2.42% or 1.07 points to end at 45.22 and Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4) was up 2.41% or 0.74 points to 31.49 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3), which fell 5.28% or 1.15 points to trade at 20.65 at the close. Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) declined 4.29% or 0.45 points to end at 10.03 and Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6) was down 2.52% or 0.55 points to 21.25.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 287 to 181 and 24 ended unchanged.
Shares in Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4) rose to 5-year highs; rising 2.41% or 0.74 to 31.49.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.78% to 29.14.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.11% or 1.40 to $1320.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.85% or 0.53 to hit $61.48 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 0.80% or 1.04 to trade at $128.38 .
USD/BRL was down 0.16% to 3.2294, while EUR/BRL fell 0.37% to 3.8892.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 91.69.
