Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Public Utilities sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 0.39% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3), which rose 4.85% or 0.46 points to trade at 9.95 at the close. Meanwhile, Gerdau SA Pref (SA:GGBR4) added 3.49% or 0.47 points to end at 13.95 and Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) was up 3.16% or 1.50 points to 49.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3), which fell 4.44% or 0.83 points to trade at 17.88 at the close. Companhia Brasileira deDistribuicao (SA:PCAR4) declined 3.06% or 2.37 points to end at 75.19 and Fleury SA (SA:FLRY3) was down 2.60% or 0.75 points to 28.07.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 244 to 201 and 39 ended unchanged.
Shares in Gerdau SA Pref (SA:GGBR4) rose to 52-week highs; up 3.49% or 0.47 to 13.95.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 4.72% to 29.93.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.17% or 2.20 to $1320.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.68% or 0.42 to hit $61.86 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 2.57% or 3.30 to trade at $125.08 .
USD/BRL was up 0.35% to 3.2406, while EUR/BRL fell 0.22% to 3.8764.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.39% at 92.11.
