Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Public Utilities sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.35% to hit a new 3-months high.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3), which rose 5.14% or 1.87 points to trade at 38.23 at the close. Meanwhile, Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5) added 4.72% or 0.77 points to end at 17.10 and WEG SA (SA:WEGE3) was up 3.93% or 0.77 points to 20.38 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3), which fell 3.56% or 1.23 points to trade at 33.30 at the close. MRV Engenharia e Participacoes SA (SA:MRVE3) declined 2.23% or 0.30 points to end at 13.15 and Multiplan SA (SA:MULT3) was down 1.99% or 1.45 points to 71.55.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 213 to 168 and 34 ended unchanged.
Shares in Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5) rose to 52-week highs; rising 4.72% or 0.77 to 17.10.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 4.90% to 23.86.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.63% or 8.11 to $1287.81 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.58% or 0.75 to hit $46.80 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 0.98% or 1.30 to trade at $130.95 .
USD/BRL was down 0.57% to 3.1509, while EUR/BRL fell 0.28% to 3.7082.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.36% at 93.41.
