Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Industrials, Public Utilities and Consumption sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 0.24%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were BRF SA (SA:BRFS3), which rose 6.38% or 1.35 points to trade at 22.50 at the close. Meanwhile, CEMIG - Companhia Energetica Minas Gerais Pref (SA:CMIG4) added 5.44% or 0.63 points to end at 12.22 and Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA Pref (SA:GOLL4) was up 5.04% or 1.06 points to 22.08 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were EDP - Energias do Brasil SA (SA:ENBR3), which fell 2.17% or 0.30 points to trade at 13.50 at the close. Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4) declined 2.04% or 0.69 points to end at 33.06 and WEG SA (SA:WEGE3) was down 1.89% or 0.34 points to 17.62.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 210 to 180 and 37 ended unchanged.
Shares in CEMIG - Companhia Energetica Minas Gerais Pref (SA:CMIG4) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 5.44% or 0.63 to 12.22.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 6.15% to 37.23.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.01% or 0.10 to $1227.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.41% or 0.77 to hit $53.86 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 0.87% or 1.00 to trade at $113.90 .
USD/BRL was up 0.18% to 3.8044, while EUR/BRL rose 0.38% to 4.3392.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 96.400.
