Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Financials and Public Utilities sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 0.13%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were IRB Brasil Resseguros SA (BVMF:IRBR3), which rose 4.60% or 2.12 points to trade at 48.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Eneva SA (BVMF:ENEV3) added 3.46% or 0.37 points to end at 11.06 and Banco BTG Pactual SA (BVMF:BPAC11) was up 2.13% or 0.59 points to 28.32 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Minerva SA/Brazil (BVMF:BEEF3), which fell 5.31% or 0.27 points to trade at 4.81 at the close. Companhia Brasileira De Distribuica (BVMF:PCAR3) declined 4.71% or 0.13 points to end at 2.63 and Atacadao SA (BVMF:CRFB3) was down 4.37% or 0.24 points to 5.25.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the B3 Stock Exchange by 603 to 364 and 50 ended unchanged.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 3.48% to 29.12 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 1.25% or 33.81 to $2,681.19 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.90% or 1.44 to hit $77.19 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract rose 0.56% or 1.80 to trade at $325.65 .
USD/BRL was down 0.43% to 6.10, while EUR/BRL rose 0.19% to 6.23.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 109.67.
