Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financials, Public Utilities and Consumption sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.13%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3), which rose 4.65% or 0.80 points to trade at 18.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Gafisa SA (SA:GFSA3) added 3.91% or 0.090 points to end at 2.390 and Cielo SA (SA:CIEL3) was up 3.67% or 1.55 points to 43.82 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4), which fell 5.05% or 0.56 points to trade at 10.52 at the close. Vale SA (SA:VALE3) declined 4.74% or 0.91 points to end at 18.29 and Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) was down 4.63% or 0.20 points to 4.12.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 170 to 132 and 5 ended unchanged.
Shares in Cielo SA (SA:CIEL3) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 3.67% or 1.55 to 43.82.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.72% to 30.30.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.53% or 6.30 to $1172.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $59.15 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 0.96% or 1.27 to trade at $131.18 .
USD/BRL was down 0.27% to 3.1097, while EUR/BRL fell 1.05% to 3.4667.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.71% at 95.75.
