Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Real Estate, Basic Materials and Public Utilities sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.09%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5), which rose 3.23% or 0.28 points to trade at 8.94 at the close. Meanwhile, Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5) added 2.20% or 0.95 points to end at 44.10 and Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3) was up 1.71% or 0.28 points to 16.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3), which fell 4.93% or 1.55 points to trade at 29.90 at the close. CPFL Energia SA (SA:CPFE3) declined 3.80% or 0.71 points to end at 17.98 and Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) was down 2.77% or 0.47 points to 16.52.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 212 to 212 and 42 ended unchanged.
Shares in CPFL Energia SA (SA:CPFE3) fell to 52-week lows; down 3.80% or 0.71 to 17.98.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.44% to 32.96.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.35% or 4.40 to $1244.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.03% or 0.59 to hit $57.95 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 2.04% or 2.50 to trade at $120.22 .
USD/BRL was up 0.40% to 3.3050, while EUR/BRL rose 0.58% to 3.8952.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 93.84.
