Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Public Utilities and Electric Power sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.09%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6), which rose 4.32% or 0.98 points to trade at 23.67 at the close. Meanwhile, Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3) added 3.95% or 0.78 points to end at 20.54 and Smiles ON (SA:SMLE3) was up 3.07% or 2.47 points to 82.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Cielo SA (SA:CIEL3), which fell 2.18% or 0.48 points to trade at 21.50 at the close. Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) declined 2.01% or 0.76 points to end at 37.14 and Natura Cosmeticos SA (SA:NATU3) was down 1.83% or 0.57 points to 30.63.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 219 to 198 and 26 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.46% to 30.77.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.86% or 10.99 to $1273.81 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.17% or 1.12 to hit $50.55 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 0.99% or 1.27 to trade at $126.95 .
USD/BRL was down 0.23% to 3.1553, while EUR/BRL fell 0.91% to 3.7028.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.60% at 93.47.
