Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Public Utilities, Industrials and Consumption sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.09%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were BRF SA (SA:BRFS3), which rose 12.28% or 2.21 points to trade at 20.21 at the close. Meanwhile, Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6) added 8.34% or 1.13 points to end at 14.68 and Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3) was up 7.14% or 0.87 points to 13.06 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Viavarejo Unt (SA:VVAR11), which fell 3.92% or 0.73 points to trade at 17.88 at the close. CCR SA (SA:CCRO3) declined 3.66% or 0.37 points to end at 9.75 and WEG SA (SA:WEGE3) was down 3.63% or 0.59 points to 15.66.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 206 to 203 and 38 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 2.67% to 35.01.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.94% or 11.80 to $1242.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.24% or 0.18 to hit $73.97 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 2.83% or 3.25 to trade at $111.72 .
USD/BRL was up 0.81% to 3.9088, while EUR/BRL rose 0.40% to 4.5495.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.39% at 94.60.
