Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Electric Power, Financials and Public Utilities sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.03% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were TAESA UNT N2 (SA:TAEE11), which rose 3.20% or 0.71 points to trade at 22.92 at the close. Meanwhile, CEMIG - Companhia Energetica Minas Gerais Pref (SA:CMIG4) added 2.19% or 0.18 points to end at 8.39 and Banco Santander Brasil SA Unit (SA:SANB11) was up 1.87% or 0.52 points to 28.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3), which fell 4.68% or 1.56 points to trade at 31.75 at the close. Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) declined 4.39% or 0.25 points to end at 5.45 and Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) was down 4.05% or 0.86 points to 20.37.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 269 to 179 and 28 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 3.60% to 29.07.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.47% or 5.97 to $1270.83 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.52% or 0.76 to hit $50.74 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 1.52% or 1.91 to trade at $127.38 .
USD/BRL was up 0.56% to 3.1530, while EUR/BRL rose 0.08% to 3.6896.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.53% at 93.80.
