Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Real Estate, Metals and Capital Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 1.56%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 1.38%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT), which rose 1.63% or 14.15 points to trade at 884.45 at the close. Meanwhile, Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR) added 0.87% or 2.55 points to end at 294.45 and Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI) was up 0.61% or 2.35 points to 390.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC), which fell 4.85% or 11.85 points to trade at 230.90 at the close. Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC) declined 4.82% or 33.10 points to end at 654.00 and Yes Bank Ltd. (NS:YESB) was down 4.35% or 16.40 points to 360.65.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which rose 1.00% to 294.05, Coal India Ltd (BO:COAL) which was up 0.12% to settle at 253.90 and ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which lost 0.45% to close at 268.25.
The worst performers were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was down 4.70% to 654.55 in late trade, Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which lost 3.49% to settle at 1184.90 and Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was down 2.83% to 817.50 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1401 to 164 and 9 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2045 fell and 485 advanced, while 134 ended unchanged.
Shares in Yes Bank Ltd. (NS:YESB) fell to 3-years lows; losing 4.35% or 16.40 to 360.65.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 10.12% to 12.8100.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.41% or 5.25 to $1300.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.14% or 0.07 to hit $50.62 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.21% or 0.12 to trade at $56.55 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.21% to 64.777, while EUR/INR rose 0.24% to 77.5957.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.25% at 91.74.
