Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Cement, Cement & Glass and Oil, Gas & Electricity sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.13%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Uniflex Technology Inc (TW:3321), which rose 9.87% or 1.50 points to trade at 16.70 at the close. Meanwhile, KPT Industries Ltd (TW:1805) added 9.87% or 1.10 points to end at 12.25 and Plotech Co Ltd (TW:6141) was up 9.09% or 1.70 points to 20.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Solytech Enterprise Corp (TW:1471), which fell 5.65% or 0.31 points to trade at 5.18 at the close. Gourmet Master Co Ltd (TW:2723) declined 5.38% or 20.00 points to end at 351.50 and Jui Li Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:1512) was down 5.11% or 0.70 points to 13.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 387 to 369 and 120 ended unchanged.
Shares in Plotech Co Ltd (TW:6141) rose to 5-year highs; rising 9.09% or 1.70 to 20.40.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.11% or 0.05 to $46.59 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.14% or 0.07 to hit $48.98 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.14% or 1.71 to trade at $1229.21 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.39% to 30.391, while TWD/CNY fell 0.18% to 0.2237.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 95.05.
