Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Capital Goods, Power and Banking sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.72% to hit a new 1-month high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.61%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK), which rose 5.62% or 95.35 points to trade at 1791.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Tata Power Co. Ltd (NS:TTPW) added 4.68% or 3.60 points to end at 80.60 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (NS:LART) was up 3.88% or 45.45 points to 1217.85 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF), which fell 1.01% or 13.30 points to trade at 1297.90 at the close. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) declined 0.99% or 12.80 points to end at 1282.60 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) was down 0.83% or 3.90 points to 467.45.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Gail (India) Ltd. (BO:GAIL) which rose 3.95% to 394.35, Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which was up 3.80% to settle at 1216.90 and Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which gained 2.84% to close at 1236.85.
The worst performers were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was down 1.10% to 1280.50 in late trade, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which lost 0.66% to settle at 878.55 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 0.51% to 468.65 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 834 to 722 and 21 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1370 rose and 1201 declined, while 153 ended unchanged.
Shares in IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) rose to all time highs; gaining 5.62% or 95.35 to 1791.25. Shares in Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) rose to 5-year highs; up 2.84% or 34.20 to 1236.85.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 4.65% to 12.3600.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.64% or 8.60 to $1342.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.61% or 0.29 to hit $47.77 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.35% or 0.19 to trade at $53.59 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.09% to 63.890, while EUR/INR fell 0.01% to 76.7541.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 91.47.
