Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Metals, Public Sector Undertakings and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.33%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.20%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:MRTI), which rose 4.02% or 240.45 points to trade at 6190.95 at the close. Meanwhile, Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) added 2.48% or 3.00 points to end at 123.85 and Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) was up 1.91% or 14.85 points to 792.75 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which fell 6.65% or 5.10 points to trade at 71.20 at the close. Britannia Industries Ltd (NS:BRIT) declined 3.24% or 80.40 points to end at 2393.50 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC) was down 3.23% or 134.45 points to 4033.05.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which rose 3.75% to 6198.75, Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which was up 2.53% to settle at 123.80 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which gained 1.94% to close at 792.90.
The worst performers were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which was down 7.11% to 71.25 in late trade, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which lost 2.36% to settle at 1404.75 and ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was down 2.01% to 246.55 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1025 to 541 and 62 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1462 fell and 887 advanced, while 131 ended unchanged.
Shares in Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB) fell to 5-year lows; losing 6.65% or 5.10 to 71.20. Shares in Britannia Industries Ltd (NS:BRIT) fell to 52-week lows; down 3.24% or 80.40 to 2393.50. Shares in Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) fell to 5-year lows; falling 7.11% or 5.45 to 71.25.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.69% to 16.6325.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.17% or 2.55 to $1514.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.21% or 0.12 to hit $56.02 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.15% or 0.09 to trade at $59.65 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.31% to 71.660, while EUR/INR rose 0.36% to 79.4135.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 98.252.
