Germany stocks mixed at close of trade; DAX down 0.29%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Monday, as gains in the Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare, Consumer & Cyclical and Utilities sectors led shares higher while losses in the Construction, Basic Resources and Transportation & Logistics sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.29%, while the MDAX index added 0.33%, and the TecDAX index added 1.17%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG), which rose 2.51% or 1.910 points to trade at 77.930 at the close. Meanwhile, Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) added 2.18% or 1.300 points to end at 60.960 and Deutsche Boerse NA O.N. (DE:DB1Gn) was up 1.49% or 1.130 points to 77.000 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which fell 5.52% or 0.970 points to trade at 16.610 at the close. Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) declined 3.60% or 0.281 points to end at 7.519 and Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) was down 2.19% or 1.480 points to 66.020.

The top performers on the MDAX were Elringklinger AG NA O.N. (DE:ZILGn) which rose 4.97% to 22.580, Fuchs Petrolub AG VZO O.N. (DE:FPEG_p) which was up 3.31% to settle at 38.580 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which gained 2.97% to close at 72.910.

The worst performers were Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which was down 2.94% to 65.810 in late trade, Evonik Industries AG (DE:EVKn) which lost 1.99% to settle at 27.875 and Salzgitter AG O.N. (DE:SZGG) which was down 1.86% to 20.025 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Kontron AG O.N. (DE:KBCG) which rose 5.75% to 3.441, BB Biotech AG (DE:BIONn) which was up 4.69% to settle at 234.500 and Software AG O.N. (DE:SOWG) which gained 4.37% to close at 30.245.

The worst performers were LPKF Laser & Electronics (DE:LPKG) which was down 2.60% to 6.930 in late trade, Drillisch AG O.N. (DE:DRIG) which lost 0.39% to settle at 37.340 and Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which was down 0.28% to 28.295 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 374 to 308 and 40 ended unchanged.

Shares in Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) fell to all time lows; down 5.52% or 0.970 to 16.610. Shares in Software AG O.N. (DE:SOWG) rose to 52-week highs; up 4.37% or 1.265 to 30.245.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.30% to 26.86.

Gold for February delivery was up 0.99% or 10.90 to $1107.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 5.33% or 1.72 to hit $30.48 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 4.16% or 1.36 to trade at $31.48 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.29% to 1.0828, while EUR/GBP rose 0.49% to 0.7606.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 99.50.
