Investing.com – India stocks were mixed after the close on Monday, as gains in the IT, Consumer Durables and Real Estate sectors led shares higher while losses in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods, Healthcare and Metals sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.09%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.07%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY), which rose 2.02% or 21.55 points to trade at 1087.90 at the close. Meanwhile, POWER GRID CORPORATION OF INDIA (NS:PGRD) added 1.95% or 2.60 points to end at 136.10 and ICICI Bank Ltd . (NS:ICBK) was up 1.74% or 4.70 points to 274.75 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN), which fell 2.40% or 20.60 points to trade at 838.50 at the close. Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) declined 2.29% or 7.85 points to end at 334.35 and Vedanta Ltd (NS:VDAN) was down 2.12% or 1.95 points to 89.95.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which rose 2.08% to 1088.45, ICICI Bank Ltd. (BO:ICBK) which was up 1.67% to settle at 274.10 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which gained 1.41% to close at 1367.25.
The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 2.09% to 334.50 in late trade, Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which lost 1.96% to settle at 90.05 and Coal India Limited (BO:COAL) which was down 1.65% to 330.70 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 865 to 586 and 14 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 445 rose and 345 declined, while 23 ended unchanged.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.79% to 16.4300.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.09% or 0.90 to $1055.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.09% or 0.46 to hit $42.16 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.30% or 0.58 to trade at $45.45 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.22% to 66.665, while EUR/INR fell 0.52% to 70.5180.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.19% at 100.25.
