Investing.com – Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Consumer Staples, Healthcare and Consumer Goods & Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC gained 0.37%.
The best performers of the session on the IPC were Ohl Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:OHLMEX), which rose 8.71% or 2.170 points to trade at 27.490 at the close. Meanwhile, Empresas ICA , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ICA) added 5.42% or 0.600 points to end at 11.700 and Gruma, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GRUMAB) was up 5.09% or 10.130 points to 208.800 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Cemex SAB de CV (MX:CMXCPO), which fell 2.16% or 0.310 points to trade at 14.100 at the close. Alpek, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALPEKA) declined 2.12% or 0.500 points to end at 23.010 and Alfa, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALFAA) was down 1.62% or 0.550 points to 33.390.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 83 to 68 and 8 ended unchanged.
Shares in Gruma, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GRUMAB) rose to all time highs; gaining 5.09% or 10.130 to 208.800.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.27% or 2.90 to $1088.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.81% or 0.40 to hit $48.80 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.19% or 0.67 to trade at $55.46 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 0.59% to 16.1983, while EUR/MXN rose 1.14% to 17.8031.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.35% at 97.28.
