Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.40%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.34%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP), which rose 2.50% or 0.91 points to trade at 37.26 at the close. Meanwhile, Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA:MICP) added 1.73% or 1.75 points to end at 102.95 and WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) was up 0.83% or 1.10 points to 133.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which fell 2.57% or 0.346 points to trade at 13.106 at the close. Atos SE (PA:ATOS) declined 2.16% or 1.44 points to end at 65.38 and Sodexo SA (PA:EXHO) was down 1.79% or 1.78 points to 97.70.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Virbac SA (PA:VIRB) which rose 11.59% to 231.00, Sartorius Stedim Biotech SA (PA:STDM) which was up 3.67% to settle at 127.00 and Genfit (PA:GNFT) which gained 3.56% to close at 13.380.
The worst performers were JC Decaux SA (PA:JCDX) which was down 4.15% to 22.64 in late trade, Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which lost 3.77% to settle at 2.270 and BIC (PA:BICP) which was down 2.77% to 63.20 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 316 to 239 and 105 ended unchanged.
Shares in Virbac SA (PA:VIRB) rose to 3-years highs; rising 11.59% or 24.00 to 231.00. Shares in JC Decaux SA (PA:JCDX) fell to 5-year lows; falling 4.15% or 0.98 to 22.64.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 6.82% to 15.47.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.58% or 8.70 to $1497.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.34% or 1.28 to hit $53.42 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 2.40% or 1.45 to trade at $59.06 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.10% to 1.1029, while EUR/GBP rose 0.60% to 0.8776.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 98.192.
