Join Investing.com senior analysts Jesse Cohen and Clement Thibault as they review the most significant events that rocked markets last week and discuss what’s in store for the week ahead.

The format is simple: the two will spend three minutes talking about each topic; a bell then sounds once time is up, whereupon they'll move on to the next topic.

In this week’s episode starts with: thoughts on the S&P 500’s best first half performance in two decades (01:30-04:35).

Next up: the highly-anticipated G-20 meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jingping, which resulted in a trade truce between the two countries and an agreement to restart talks (04:35-07:45).

Finally, the two touched on the ongoing Trump vs Federal Reserve battle after comments made by Chairman Jerome Powell appeared to push back on political pressure from the White House (07:45-10:50).

Looking ahead, the duo provided thoughts on how markets are likely to perform in the holiday-shortened week ahead as investors shift focus back to U.S. economic data, with Friday’s nonfarm payrolls report on the agenda (10:50-14:00).

They also discussed OPEC’s next meeting, which starts on Monday, and what it could mean for oil markets (14:00-17:00).

Bitcoin’s wild price action was also on the menu (17:00-20:00).

To close the session, they each provided their stock of the week: Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) (20:00-22:05) and Barrick Gold Corp (NYSE:GOLD) (22:05-23:30).
