In this week’s episode starts with: thoughts on the S&P 500’s best first half performance in two decades (01:30-04:35).
Next up: the highly-anticipated G-20 meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jingping, which resulted in a trade truce between the two countries and an agreement to restart talks (04:35-07:45).
Finally, the two touched on the ongoing Trump vs Federal Reserve battle after comments made by Chairman Jerome Powell appeared to push back on political pressure from the White House (07:45-10:50).
Looking ahead, the duo provided thoughts on how markets are likely to perform in the holiday-shortened week ahead as investors shift focus back to U.S. economic data, with Friday’s nonfarm payrolls report on the agenda (10:50-14:00).
They also discussed OPEC’s next meeting, which starts on Monday, and what it could mean for oil markets (14:00-17:00).
Bitcoin’s wild price action was also on the menu (17:00-20:00).
To close the session, they each provided their stock of the week: Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) (20:00-22:05) and Barrick Gold Corp (NYSE:GOLD) (22:05-23:30).
