Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Finance & Investment, Real Estate & Construction and Banking sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General fell 3.22% to hit a new 3-months low, while the ADX General index lost 1.37%.
The best performers of the session on the DFM General were Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE), which rose 6.75% or 0.110 points to trade at 1.630 at the close. Meanwhile, National Cement Company P.S.C. (DU:NCC) added 2.95% or 0.100 points to end at 3.490 and Mashreqbank PSC (DU:MASB) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to 117.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Gulf General Investments Company (DU:GGIC), which fell 5.86% or 0.047 points to trade at 0.755 at the close. Emaar Properties PJSC (DU:EMAR) declined 5.20% or 0.370 points to end at 6.740 and AJMAN BANK PJSC (DU:AJBNK) was down 4.79% or 0.090 points to 1.790.
The top performers on the ADX General were Arkan Bld Mt C (AD:ARKN) which rose 5.05% to 1.04, Sharjah Cement AD (AD:SCID) which was up 5.00% to settle at 1.05 and Gulf Cement Co (AD:GCEM) which gained 2.04% to close at 1.00.
The worst performers were Union Cement (AD:UCC) which was down 8.33% to 1.10 in late trade, Gulf Pharm Ind (AD:GPHI) which lost 6.95% to settle at 2.59 and Dana Gas (AD:DANA) which was down 5.66% to 0.500 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 26 to 2; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 22 fell and 4 advanced, while 2 ended unchanged.
Shares in AJMAN BANK PJSC (DU:AJBNK) fell to 52-week lows; down 4.79% or 0.090 to 1.790.
Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.92% or 0.38 to $40.89 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 1.24% or 0.58 to hit $46.58 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.94% or 10.60 to trade at $1138.50 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was unchanged 0.00% to 3.6731, while EUR/AED rose 0.47% to 4.1048.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.22% at 96.21.
