Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Consumer Staples, Real Estate & Construction and Insurance sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General lost 1.45%, while the ADX General index fell 0.58%.
The best performers of the session on the DFM General were ARAMEX PJSC (DU:ARMX), which rose 2.56% or 0.100 points to trade at 4.000 at the close. Meanwhile, Dubai Investments PJSC (DU:DINV) added 0.99% or 0.020 points to end at 2.040 and SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA) was up 0.93% or 0.010 points to 1.080 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Emaar Properties PJSC (DU:EMAR), which fell 5.16% or 0.280 points to trade at 5.150 at the close. Takaful House (DU:DTKF) declined 3.89% or 0.027 points to end at 0.667 and Islamic Arab Insurance Company (DU:SALAMA) was down 3.61% or 0.016 points to 0.427.
The top performers on the ADX General were Waha Capital (AD:WAHA) which rose 5.88% to 1.800, Abu Dhabi National for Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:BILD) which was up 1.72% to settle at 0.590 and Sharjah Islami (AD:SIB) which gained 1.67% to close at 1.220.
The worst performers were Rak Cement Co (AD:RKCC) which was down 8.00% to 0.690 in late trade, Gulf Cement Co (AD:GCEM) which lost 6.93% to settle at 0.9400 and Ad Natl Energy (AD:TAQA) which was down 4.10% to 1.170 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 25 to 8 and 6 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 12 fell and 3 advanced, while 8 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 1.48% or 0.97 to $64.72 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.69% or 0.52 to hit $74.82 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.14% or 1.80 to trade at $1278.30 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was up 0.01% to 3.6732, while EUR/AED fell 0.66% to 4.2415.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.50% at 94.88.
