Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Consumer Staples, Banking and Services sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General added 1.21%, while the ADX General index climbed 1.82%.

The best performers of the session on the DFM General were Mashreqbank PSC (DU:MASB), which rose 4.83% or 2.90 points to trade at 63.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Takaful House (DU:DTKF) added 3.45% or 0.028 points to end at 0.840 and Dubai Parks and Resorts PJSC (DU:DUBA) was up 1.96% or 0.030 points to 1.560 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE), which fell 5.29% or 0.110 points to trade at 1.970 at the close. Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN) declined 4.06% or 0.026 points to end at 0.614 and AJMAN BANK PJSC (DU:AJBNK) was down 2.35% or 0.040 points to 1.660.

The top performers on the ADX General were Fujairah Building Industries Co PSC (AD:FBI) which rose 11.11% to 1.20, Gulf Cement Co (AD:GCEM) which was up 9.20% to settle at 0.9500 and Bank Of Sharja (AD:BOS) which gained 6.67% to close at 1.440.

The worst performers were Al Khazna Ins (AD:AKIC) which was down 9.76% to 0.370 in late trade, Int Fish Farmi (AD:ASMK) which lost 2.50% to settle at 1.56 and Methaq (AD:METH) which was down 1.28% to 0.770 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 23 to 11 and 3 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 18 rose and 4 declined, while 8 ended unchanged.

Crude oil for August delivery was down 1.02% or 0.51 to $49.37 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.92% or 0.47 to hit $50.85 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.50% or 6.65 to trade at $1320.25 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was down 0.00% to 3.6729, while EUR/AED rose 0.18% to 4.0934.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.14% at 95.56.
