Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Consumer Staples, Insurance and Services sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General gained 0.26%, while the ADX General index climbed 0.34%.

The best performers of the session on the DFM General were Takaful House (DU:DTKF), which rose 3.92% or 0.026 points to trade at 0.690 at the close. Meanwhile, DXB Entertainments (P.J.S.C.) (DU:DXBE) added 3.41% or 0.014 points to end at 0.424 and Islamic Arab Insurance Company (DU:SALAMA) was up 2.91% or 0.013 points to 0.460 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Union Properties PJSC (DU:UPRO), which fell 2.05% or 0.017 points to trade at 0.812 at the close. Arabtec Holding PJSC (DU:ARTC) declined 2.00% or 0.040 points to end at 1.960 and Drake & Scull International PJSC (DU:DSI) was down 1.67% or 0.020 points to 1.180.

The top performers on the ADX General were Methaq (AD:METH) which rose 6.76% to 0.790, National Takaful Co PJSC (AD:WATA) which was up 5.88% to settle at 0.54 and Ad Shipbldg Co (AD:ADSB) which gained 5.53% to close at 2.100.

The worst performers were Sharjah Cement AD (AD:SCID) which was down 6.54% to 1.000 in late trade, United Arab Bk (AD:UAB) which lost 5.52% to settle at 1.370 and International Holding Company PJSC (AD:IHC) which was down 3.57% to 1.35 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 24 to 12 and 3 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 11 fell and 8 advanced, while 8 ended unchanged.

Shares in International Holding Company PJSC (AD:IHC) fell to 52-week lows; falling 3.57% or 0.05 to 1.35.

Crude oil for July delivery was down 1.29% or 0.93 to $70.91 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 1.23% or 0.98 to hit $78.82 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.48% or 6.20 to trade at $1295.80 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was unchanged 0.00% to 3.6732, while EUR/AED rose 0.15% to 4.3027.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 93.78.
