Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Industrial Transportation, Automobiles & Parts and Industrial Engineering sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the FTSE 100 fell 0.60%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE 100 were Centrica Plc (LONDON:CNA), which rose 4.16% or 11.30 points to trade at 282.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Randgold Resources (LONDON:RRS) added 2.66% or 145.00 points to end at 5595.00 and International Airlines Group (LONDON:ICAG) was up 2.19% or 12.00 points to 561.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tui AG New Nrf (LONDON:TUIJe), which fell 3.33% or 39.00 points to trade at 1132.00 at the close. TUI AG (LONDON:TUIT) declined 3.17% or 38.00 points to end at 1162.00 and Weir Group (LONDON:WEIR) was down 2.79% or 47.00 points to 1640.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1442 to 717 and 298 ended unchanged.
Shares in Randgold Resources (LONDON:RRS) rose to 52-week highs; rising 2.66% or 145.00 to 5595.00. Shares in International Airlines Group (LONDON:ICAG) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.19% or 12.00 to 561.00.
Gold for April delivery was up 1.07% or 13.70 to $1294.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in March rose 2.26% or 1.02 to hit $46.17 a barrel, while the March Brent Oil contract rose 2.17% or 1.04 to trade at $49.20 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.80% to 1.5194, while EUR/GBP rose 0.40% to 0.7484.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.05% at 94.28.
