Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Software & Computer Services, Industrial Transportation and Oil Equipment Services & Distribution sectors led shares higher.

At the close in London, the FTSE 100 gained 0.12%.

The best performers of the session on the FTSE 100 were Fresnillo Plc (LONDON:FRES), which rose 5.39% or 40.50 points to trade at 792.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Sage Group (LONDON:SGE) added 3.22% or 17.50 points to end at 561.50 and Royal Mail (LONDON:RMG) was up 2.80% or 13.60 points to 499.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Hikma Pharmaceuticals (LONDON:HIK), which fell 1.43% or 30.00 points to trade at 2071.00 at the close. Aviva Plc (LONDON:AV) declined 1.38% or 7.50 points to end at 535.00 and easyJet Plc (LONDON:EZJ) was down 1.29% or 22.00 points to 1678.00.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1471 to 1142 and 438 ended unchanged.

Shares in Sage Group (LONDON:SGE) rose to all time highs; up 3.22% or 17.50 to 561.50.

Gold for June delivery was up 0.02% or 0.30 to $1225.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.48% or 0.29 to hit $60.25 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.83% or 0.56 to trade at $66.25 a barrel.

GBP/USD was down 0.38% to 1.5667, while EUR/GBP fell 0.62% to 0.7235.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.86% at 94.09.
