The Dow futures off 0.19% at 07:15 ET. The DJI closed off 0.29% overnight.
The S&P 500 futures shed 0.31%. The tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 futures lost 0.26%.
The dollar index steadied at lower levels after Trump's comments.
Oil edged higher as the IEA said the market is very close to balance.
Initial jobless claims and PPI are due out before the market opens.
(NYSE:JPMorgan) shares were higher pre-market as Q1 earnings beat estimates.
(NYSE:Citi), (NYSE:Wells Fargo) also due to report Q1 earnings.
